Guide to Installing Firmware:
- Download the right firmware file for your OnePlus 5 from a trusted site. Make sure it matches your device’s model number exactly to prevent potential compatibility issues. In case you use the wrong firmware device won’t function as expected.
- Verify Battery Level: Ensure that your device is adequately charged to sustain power during the flashing procedure. You should at least have 50% battery, because any interruptions could lead to issues with this procedure. It may freeze if the device shuts down unexpectedly.
- Look for All required Drivers: Ensure you have the OnePlus USB drivers installed on the PC so that your device connects correctly with your computer.
Flashing Firmware Process:

Load Firmware:
- MsmDownloadTool target button clicks on it.
- Choose the firmware file (or the directory containing the extracted firmware files)
- To avoid loading mismatched firmware, verify that the appropriate firmware has been loaded.
Connect the Device:
- Make sure your OnePlus 5 is still in EDL mode and connected to the computer using USB.
- The tool should automatically recognize your device. If it doesn’t, reconnect the USB cable or change the USB ports.
In case your device does not get detected, re-install the Qualcomm USB drivers.
Start Flashing:
- Start flashing by clicking on Start in MsmDownloadTool;
- The tool now starts flashing the firmware on your OnePlus 5.
- Do not use the computer or disconnect the cable while this takes place to avoid failures.
Wait Until the Process is Done
- It can take several minutes for the flashing process to complete. Do not disconnect or power off your device while the process is ongoing, so please be patient.
- This will show a progress bar indicating the installation steps.
- If it does get stuck, restart your computer and phone, and then try again.
Complete Setup
- During the flashing process, your device may reboot.
- If it doesn’t, then you can reboot your OnePlus 5 manually via a long press on the Power key.
- If required, configure your device as a new device or restore your backup.
