PREREQUISITES:
Preparations Required Before Flashing

HOW TO FLASH FIRMWARE ON SAMSUNG GALAXY S8
Step 1:
  • Enable USB Debugging
    Open Settings on your Samsung Galaxy S8.
    Scroll down and tap About Phone.
    If you haven’t already done so, tap Build Number seven times to enable Developer Options.
    Go back to the main Settings page.
    Tap on Developer Options and turn on USB Debugging.

This step is vital because it enables your device to talk with the PC when you are flashing it.

Step 2:
  • Download Odin and Install It
  • Download the Odin utility zip file, create a new folder on your computer, and extract the zip file into that folder.
  • After you open the folder, right-click on Odin.
  • Click Run as Administrator to open Odin with the required permissions.
Step 3:
  • Enter into Download Mode
  • Please turn off your Samsung Galaxy S8.
  • Repeat for Volume Down, Bixby, and Power button.
  • Immediately release all buttons when a caution screen shows.
  • Once you see Download Mode, press the Volume Up button.

You can now attach the device to the PC and flash it.

Step 4:
  • Connect Your Device to the PC
  • Connect your Samsung Galaxy S8 to the computer with a good-quality USB cable.
  • Open Odin on your PC.
  • If your device is detected, a blue box will be displayed in Odin’s ID: COM area.

If Odin does not recognize your device, then try:
Resetting Samsung USB drivers.
Try a different USB port or cable.
Then restart the PC and device and reconnect the PC with the device.

Step 5:
  • Add the Firmware File to Odin
  • Click the AP button in Odin.
  • Go to the folder where you have saved the firmware file.
  • Now choose the firmware file with a. tar or. Tar. md5 extension.
  • You should now wait a few minutes while Odin verifies the firmware file and loads it.
Step 6:
  • Set Up Odin’s Options
  • In Odin, ensure that the following options are checked.
  • Auto Reboot
  • F. Reset Time
  • Only modify these options, unless you are an expert Odin user.

Make sure to select the correct firmware file before clicking on Next.

Step 7: 
  • Start Flashing the Device
  • Press the Start button in Odin to flash the firmware.
  • The process may take a few minutes (do not disconnect your device or close Odin while it is running).
  • You will see the flashing progress on Odin and your device may automatically boot several times.
Step 8:
  • Allow the process to be completed
  • Odin will show you the Pass in green when the flashing process is done.
  • Your Samsung Galaxy S8 should start rebooting automatically.

If the device does not restart automatically, turn the power on manually by pressing the Power button.

Step 9:
  • Finalize the Initial Configuration
  • Follow the instructions on your screen to configure your Samsung Galaxy S8.
  • Choose a language, set up a Wi-Fi connection, and log into your Google and Samsung accounts.
  • If needed, restore your backed-up data.
Step 10:

How to flash firmware on Samsung Galaxy S8?

  • Backup Your Data: At the time of flashing, your device is formatted to factory settings; Therefore, back up your important files (Photos, Videos) in Samsung Cloud, Google Drive, or in external storage.
  • Charge Your Device: Before flashing anything in the device the first thing you should do is charge the Galaxy S8 to at least about 50% to avoid any power solutions during flashing.
Download Required Files:

  • Select Start in Odin to flash your CF-Auto-Root. Let it run until it finishes and your S8 will reboot.
Complete Initial Setup:
  • It helps you set up your Galaxy S8 and restore any backup, via screen instructions.
Verify the Update:
  • To verify that the firmware update was successful, head to Settings > About Phone.
Factory Reset (if necessary):
