  • To prevent any compatibility issues, only download the right firmware for your exact device model from a trusted, source.
  • Now, before you start, please go to your computer’s Control Panel, and uninstall any older versions of SP Flash Tool if any exist, to ensure well-functioning during operation.
  • It is based on the assumption that you are somewhat familiar with the SP Flash Tool and the process of flashing the firmware. For those lacking comfort or confidence in doing the procedure, the services of a competent technician are recommended.

How to Flash Xiaomi Redmi 5 Stock Firmware with SP Flash Tool:

  • Install USB Drivers
  • To begin, you will need to download and install the requisite USB drivers so that your device and PC can communicate with each other. To get these drivers you can get them from the Official Xiaomi site or any trusted third-party driver source.
  • Download the Correct Firmware
  • Head to a trusted site, and use the official firmware intended for your Xiaomi Redmi 5. Just remember, make sure this specific version of the firmware is compatible with your specific model, as flashing the wrong version could result in errors, or even worse, bricking.
Step 1: Download and Install the SP Flash Tool

SP Flash Tool: You need the SP Flash tool to flash the firmware on your device. You may download the latest version from its official website. Newer firmware versions may not be compatible with older builds, so make sure to grab the latest release.

Extract the Necessary Files
  • After downloading the firmware and SP Flash Tool, extract both files (using a file extraction tool like WinRAR or 7-Zip) to individual folders on your computer.
  • Open SP Flash Tool
  • Tpl Enter the folder containing the extracted SP Flash Tool and find the executable file (flash_tool. exe). Execute the file with the administrator privilege to open the tool.
Load the Scatter File
  • Look for the “Scatter-loading File” section in the SP Flash Tool and click on “Choose.”
  • Go to the directory where you extracted the firmware files and select the scatter file (usually a. txt extension). The scatter file tells SP Flash Tool where to flash the different parts of the firmware on your device.
Choose the Right Flashing Settings
  • This will open various flash options you can perform using SP Flash Tool. 2 options — “Download Only” and “Firmware Upgrade” mode.
  • For a standard firmware flash, “Download Only” should be selected.
  • You could select “Firmware Upgrade” if you want to do this and keep some data, but it’s more risky.
  • Load Firmware Components
  • Continue and tap on the “Download” button, which will bring a window that shows several parts such as preloader, recovery, system, and others.
  • Load the respective files in SP Flash Tool from the firmware folder using the “Choose” buttons.
Power Off Your Xiaomi Redmi 5
  • First, completely shut down your device, and then;
  • At this point, we advise you to unplug the device from your PC.
How to Enter Download/Fastboot Mode and Connect the Device
  • Pressing the right button combination for the Download/Fastboot mode to connect your device to the computer using a USB cable.
  • The combination may depend on your device, so it could be Volume Down + Power Button or Volume Up + Power Button.

Start Flashing the Firmware
  • After your device is properly connected and detected in SP Flash Tool you would click on the “Download” button to start the flashing process.
  • You will also see a progress bar updating the flashing progress. It can take a few minutes to complete this.
  • Not much more to do just wait for completion and reboot
  • The flashing should complete and you will be presented with a green circle with a checkmark indicating that the firmware has been successfully installed.

Unplug your device from the computer and turn it on.

If this is your first boot after flashing, keep in mind that it may take longer to boot than expected, since the system has some work to do optimizing and initializing files.

  1. Optional, but Highly Recommended: Factory Reset Your Device
  2. After flashing, it is advised to do a factory reset to not run into software bugs or instability.
  3. Text: Boot your device into Recovery Mode (usually with Volume Up + Power Button held)
  4. Go to the “Wipe data/factory reset” and confirm the reset.
  5. This is important to ensure that your device runs optimally on the new firmware.
Final Notes:
  • Do remember those are only basic guides for flashing MTK-based Xiaomi devices. This guide is based on the current version of the SP Flash Tool, the likely process won’t change too much though it may differ depending on your specific SP Flash Tool version and firmware.
  • And so we won’t be held accountable for any damage that comes from improperly executing these steps. Always make sure to read the ROM instructions and if unsure, refer to official documentation before flashing firmware on your device.
  • You would only need to troubleshoot if you run into boot loops, stuck on logo screens, or refuse to be detected, at which point you should try checking if the drivers have been installed, using another USB cable or port, or downloading the firmware afresh.

Following this way, you can update the Xiaomi Redmi 5 firmware without any problems.
