The procedure must be done carefully and every implementation should be followed step by step. Make sure to back up any important data before attempting anything that could lead to data loss.

Before You Begin:

Backup Your Data:
  • Flashing your firmware will remove all data from your device, including apps, photos, and settings. Strongly recommend to backup all important files completely.

Download Firmware and Tools:
  • Download the official firmware for Xiaomi Redmi 6 from a trusted source.

Step 1: You have to download the SP Flash Tool on your PC to make the flashing process easier.

Always confirm that the firmware you’re downloading is compatible with your model, as using the wrong one is likely to brick your device.

Install USB Drivers:

You will need to have the Xiaomi USB drivers installed on your computer for the SP Flash Tool to communicate with your device. Normally these drivers are available from the official Xiaomi website and trusted third-party sources.

Flashing Steps:
  • Extract the Firmware Files

Power ON your Xiaomi Redmi 6 by holding down the Power Button.

The first boot might take longer than usual while the system optimizes the brand-new firmware installation. This is normal.

Optionally, Run a Factory Reset (Recommended)

Once flashing is done, a factory reset is always a good practice to ensure that the system will not run any old software that can cause a conflict in the system.

To do so, you can boot into Recovery Mode by holding Volume Up + Power Button together.

After resetting, restart your device.

Final Notes:
  • The above steps are the general method for flashing the MTK-based Xiaomi Devices. Keep in mind that you may have to use slightly different step(s) for some specific firmware versions or SP Flash Tool versions.
  • We will not be liable for any damages you do to your device from misuse of these steps. Updating firmware is a tricky business that should only be attempted if you know you can follow instructions and that you are following them to the letter!
  • If you experience problems including boot loops, a frozen logo screen, or failing to be recognized, troubleshoot as follows:
