Preparation
Backup Your Data:
- This is probably the best approach, but flashing will probably wipe your device. To prevent any loss of important files, ensure that you back up all your essential data such as contacts, photos, messages, and documents.
Charge Your Device:
- This will take some time so make sure your device has enough battery or is plugged in during the whole process. Make sure your battery is at least 50% to avoid flashing interruptions.
Step 1:
- Download Required Files
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T USB Driver:
Commence by downloading the USB drivers for Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T on the respective computer. Xiaomi usually offers these drivers on their website, just go to the website and download the suitable drivers for your device.
Download Stock Firmware:
- From the Mi official website, download the stock firmware for your Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T (make sure the firmware for your device model).
Download SP Flash Tool:
- Download SP Flash Tool From Its Official Source You will need the SP Flash Tool to Flash your Firmware on your device.
Step 2:
- Extract SP Flash Tool and Firmware
- Unzip Firmware Package:
- Extract the firmware Once you download the firmware, extract it in a folder in the computer. This will enable you to retrieve the files needed for flashing.
Extract SP Flash Tool:
Open the SP Flash Tool archive and extract it into a folder as well. It gives you access to the tool needed for the flashing process.
Step 3:
- Install SP Flash Tool
Launch SP Flash Tool:
Go to the folder in which you extracted the SP Flash Tool. Inside, find the flash_tool. Exe file. Double-click on this file to open the tool. Preferably right-click on the file and select “Run as Administrator” as this tool needs permissions to run correctly.
Step 4:
- Load the Scatter File
- SP Flash Tool Load Scatter File:
- Launch the SP Flash Tool and click on the Scatter-loading button. This will ask you for the scatter file inside the extracted firmware folder.
Choose the Scatter File:
- It is a text file that contains the partition information required to flash the device. It usually is named something like MTxxxx_Android_scatter. Txt”. You don’t want to choose the wrong scatter file that may damage the device forever.
Step 5:
Set Flashing Options
Review Flashing Partitions:
- Loading the scatter file will display the partition list in the SP Flash Tool interface. These partitions map to different portions of the firmware, such as system, recovery, and bootloader. You can flash everything or flash just the part you want. Be careful here — flashing the wrong partitions can completely break your device and make it unbootable or unresponsive.
Select Flashing Mode:
- Be sure to select “Download Only” or something similar. This will also enable you to flash the firmware without loss of user data (unless you explicitly choose to wipe all data).
Step 6:
Connect the Device
Power Off Your Device:
- Turn off (power off) your Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T completely.
Enter Download Mode:
- To enter the Download mode or Bootloader mode, Volume Up or Volume Down button and a USB cable to connect it to your computer. For this, you need to copy the driver file from the SP Flash Tool folder.
Then click on Start Flashing.
Begin Flashing:
- Once your device is connected and in the right mode, hit the Download button on the SP Flash Tool. The tool will initiate the flashing process and will show a progress bar to let you know the progress of the operation.
Wait for Flashing to Finish:
- The flashing process may take a while, depending on firmware size. Do not unplug your device during the process. You should then see a green circle along with Download OK in SP Flash Tool once the process is complete.
Step 7:
Completion
Unplug Your Device:
- Once the flashing operation is successful, disconnect your device safely from the computer.
Reboot the Device:
- Power on your Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T now. The first boot after flashing takes time, so please wait. You can start the setup process again after the device has been booted.
